As well as the general volunteer activities we run, we are also looking for long term volunteers to fill a number of specific roles. Please contact us if you would like to ask us more about any of the following:
  • Health and Social Projects Coordinator (3 months or longer)
This position oversees the implementation of community and health activities for adults and young people in barrio Oasis and Fundadores, two marginalised communities in Santa Marta, Caribbean coast, Colombia, and the establishment of relationships with other organisations.

- lead community health and development activities. Coordinate current activities for adult in the community (literacy programme, English classes and weekly workshops on health/social issues such as violence, family relationships, parenting and nutrition etc)

- undertake consultation to identify and respond to needs of the communities

- identify and plan future activities based on availabilities and capabilities of volunteers
  • Evaluate the success/impact of the activities
  • Research, contact, meet and build relationships with other local organisations and institutions with similar objectives or who could provide support
  • Identify opportunities, and assist directors in applying for ongoing sources of funding
Experience in working on health/social projects in marginalised communities and a very good level of Spanish are both essential.

  • Fundraising and Accounting volunteer (3 months stay or longer)
We are looking for a person who could assist in maintaining the monthly balance sheets and cashflow, and also allocate money to various aspects of the foundation e.g. expenses for trips for the kids or equipment to the school.
  • Fundraising coordinator (3 months stay or longer)
Someone with experience working for NGOs is needed to research possible fundraising sources and write grant applications. We would also welcome your creativity in organising local or international fundraising events, which could be done in cooperation with the publicity and marketing volunteer.
  • Publicity and Marketing volunteer (2 months or more)
We are looking for someone to help us expand and maintain our social network and raise awareness of our work amongst the online community. We would also like to raise the profile of the organisation both locally in the city of Santa Marta and within Colombia by building up our relationships with local and national partners. Good writing and creative skills and a thorough knowledge of internet communications would be useful for this role.
  • Educational Coordinator (2 months or more)
We are looking someone with a teaching background, ideally including experience in working with children from marginalised communities, to help us design our educational activities. Ideally, the person would not only provide teaching skills, but also develop an ongoing support and training system for new volunteers to help them with classroom management, curriculum design and lesson planning.
  • Excursions Coordinator (2 months or more)
We need a volunteer with good community liaison skills and a high level of Spanish to organise monthly excursions for the children and parents we work with, researching destinations, arranging transport and logistics and communicating with the communities.
