Be a part of Mariposas Amarillas.

Volunteer in one of the most beautiful places on our planet - the Caribbean region of Colombia.

Are you planning to visit northern Colombia in your South American travels? Or are you sitting at home and daydreaming? Do you feel that you have some love to give? We'd be more than happy to welcome you to volunteer with Mariposas Amarillas.

We are looking for both temporary and long-term volunteers. You can decide yourself how long you want to stay, and you make your own work schedule. The benefit of this structure is that you will have plenty of time to take Spanish or dive courses, explore nearby areas such as Tayrona National Park, or just lie on the beach if you like!

What you can do with foundation will largely depend on your interests, skills, time commitment, and ability to speak Spanish. We welcome people with any skill, or none! Volunteers can help with administration, fundraising, and publicity and/or teach classes and offer counseling to children. This is a great opportunity to witness the operation of a true grassroots organization in South America while enjoying all Colombia's Caribbean coast has to offer.

But I'm not coming to Colombia!
Mariposas Amarillas is in the process of constructing a new learning centre in Fundadores barrio (you can see how we're getting on on our blog), and we also need more resources for our extracurricular education program. Donations of supplies, time, and money are always needed.

We always need help with fund raising and publicity, so even if you are not planning a trip to Colombia in the near future, please contact us, we'd love to work with you! Ideas for volunteering from afar include:

  • Helping us with our web or graphic design needs - can you improve on this website?
  • Organising a fundraising event in your home town
  • Listing our work on more websites and making contact with businesses around the world
  • Finding more followers for us on Twitter and making more connections on Facebook
  • Translating our resources into Spanish

Have a look at our volunteer requirements, volunteer benefits and travel advice pages to find out more.
